MyPCBackup Sync FolderYou get both Backup and Sync Functionality: MyPCBackup provides a scheduled backup that will backup your files to a safe off-site location but it also provides you with a sync folder(10mg by default) that will allow you to select files that you can sync between multiple computers. No more manually syncing files to multiple computers or carrying around flash drives! It’s as easy as dragging and dropping a file into your sync folder, or right clicking on the file and selecting the "Add to Sync Folder". Plus you get both functions for the same low price.

True Unlimited Backup: They are one of the very few companies offering a true unlimited(storage) backup. With MyPCBackup there are no file size limitations, and no bandwidth throttling. You still get unlimited storage starting at $4.95/month. Other companies such as Carbonite and IDrive will either implement bandwidth throttling that will slow down your backups, or file size limitations, or both on their unlimited backup products. Other companies such as Mozy have eliminated their "unlimited" backup option all together.

NEW – Private File Sharing: Now with MyPCBackup you can share files, photos, folders and a whole lot more with family and friends by inviting them via Facebook, Twitter, email or even a custom link you create yourself. Collaboration just got a whole lot easier. MyPcBackup plans to have public file sharing available December 15, 2011 to complete their file sharing capabilities.

File Versioning: By default MyPCBackup will keep 7 days worth of versions of a file for you, but this can be changed to 30 days or unlimited if you wish. So if you accidentally delete a file… no worries you are covered with MyPCBackup.

Web based file viewing: Don’t have access to your PC but need to view a file? No problem, you can access your files from any web browser or smart phone using MyPCBackup’s mobile website.

Excellent 24/7 365 Day a Year Customer Support: MyPCBackup is shooting for the best customer support team in the business. They are available to help customers with any advice and support they need. Currently customer support is available via email, their knowledge base, and video tutorials. They are setting up a new customer call center in December of 2011, with full phone support expected to online and operational shortly there-after.

No File Type Restrictions: MyPCBackup gives you the ability to backup any file you choose, regardless of what type of file it is. This means that you can backup things like music, video, pictures, documents, executables, graphics and any more you could possibly think of.

Secure and Safe: MyPCBackup uses industry standard 128-bit file encryption for transferring and storing your data. This is the same technology used by banks for financial transactions. They also utilize full server mirroring – which means their servers are duplicated to another completely separate data center. This protects you in case of physical disasters or power outages at the primary MyPCBackup server location.

Easily Restore Files: There is no benefit to having a backup if you can’t restore your files when you need to. With MyPCBackup restoring files is simple and easy. You can restore any files from both the Control Panel and desktop application in just a few clicks. Restoring from the desktop application is as easy as clicking on the "Restore Files" button – at which time you will be asked to which computer you want to restore(if you have backed up multiple computers), then you will be able to browse through the backed up files and folders to select the ones you wish to restore. Finally you will be asked to select the location(s) you want to restore the files/folders to or even create a new location if you want. At this point the restore process begins.

CrossDislikes

No Support for Mac or Linux: Sorry Mac and Linux users… MyPCBackup currently only supports Window’s based operating systems. The MAC and Linux versions will be available December 15, 2011.

No Mobile App’s: Currently MyPCBackup doesn’t have app’s for any mobile devices such as the iPhone, Android or tablet devices. They also don’t support syncing to those devices at this time. Currently access via these devices is limited to using MyPCBackup’s mobile website. We hope to see mobile app’s being released from MyPCBackup soon, as working from these devices is now a norm for most people.

Currently No Phone or Chat Customer Support: Currently the only customer support available is via email or by using their video tutorials and online knowledge base. Although their email support is 24/7 and very responsive, live chat support would be helpful. They are expecting to have a new call center with Phone support operational by the end of the year, 2011.

I signed up for 2 years with the unlimited storage option being a big selling feature. Interface seemed easy enough so thus I began my backup in October 2011. I had 475 GB to back up.

The backup was deathly slow thru DSL. At the end of December I was showing only 210 GB had been backed up. That being said, I was looking at another 3 months of 24hr/day continuous backup until it was complete.

However, on Jan 3rd I noticed that it said the backup was complete – all 41K + files and 475GB.

I logged on the mypcbackup.com to check to see that all the files were there. Online, it said only about 30K files were stored for a total of 250GB. I then perused thru my folders and found many of them completely empty with no files at all.

It seemed very odd that the backup stopped online at a nice round 250GB.

I contacted their online support (no phone or email; only web support tickets), and after a few exchanges I finally got this response:

“Due to the total size of the files that you are trying to back you may wish to consider a business solution. Unfortunately we do not offer such a package at this time, so our product may not be suitable for you”

    What the $&$%^???

Advertised as “unlimited storage”, and this is the response I get 3 months after the fact and after paying for 2 years of service?

Needless to say, I’m fit to be tied…
How can this company get away with these fraudulent claims???

I want to reply to this concern, as well as emails that we have received in regards to this claim of a 250GB limit that MyPCBackup supposedly imposes. There is no 250GB limit being imposed by MyPCBackup on their unlimited backup. MyPCBackup has shown us accounts where users are backing up well in excess of this amount of data (600GB+).

We don’t doubt that you are having issues, but might suggest there may be other reasons for the problems. Possibly what may be going on in the above cases, is you are hitting individual ISP upload limits? You may want to check with your ISP provider to verify that they are not imposing a bandwidth cap on you.

Switched from years of using Mozy, completely due to cost. So far I have been very impressed with the user interface, I like it better than Mozy. Very easy set up. Speed seems fine. Would highly recommend at this point…

I chose this product simply because of the cheap price – the cheapest I could find in fact! I was glad I did because so far the experience has been awesome, syncing all my stuff quickly and without any limitations. It did take me a while to get used to but now I’m up to speed it’s a very easy system to use. Plus I can view my synced files from anywhere through the internet which is a definite plus for me, means I don’t have to take my laptop everywhere!

Wow! – Simply a great product. Files took no time to backup and i hardly noticed it running. I can get my files wherever i am, and even for a relative beginner on a computer, even i could work it. I cannot rate this prodcut highly enough.

I cannot tell you how much easier my life is with this product, its just soooooo easy.

Although i use Mac’s and PC’s, the PC backup is second to none, and to get unlimited storage at that price is just incredible.

Cannot wait for the Mac version, and the App to be released, but the mobile site does what it needs to for now.

In terms of VFM MyPc Backup are one of, if not the best out there, great support, unlimited backup and a great price. THeir sync folder makes accessing my music when i’m out incredibly easy, and once they get there act together to support Mac’s also, i cant see why they wont be number 1 very soon. Brilliat Service A+++

I downloaded a previous version of this product on free trial and really didnt seem to get on with it, i then started using the Mozy “unlimted” plan, which although i was impressed with, it was sadly recently aboloished.

Having now used the udated version of MyPC Backup I have to say, its so much easier to use, great backup and Sync options, and the speed of the backups themselves have increased immensly.

I dont normally recommend these type of services to anyone, but i have to say, i’m impressed so far.
